The peplum, a new silhouette for spring

March 16, 2012 3 Comments by Victoria

The peplum, a classic ’50s silhouette, is making a real revival this year. Yves Saint Laurent, Celine, Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Acne, Dries van Noten are just a few examples of designers who showed a version of the peplum in their fashion shows. This leather version of Banana Republic is going to be one of my favorites this year, as it provides an instant waist and can be worn up (think of a pencil skirt, cropped or straight legged paints) or down (for example a t-shirt, skinny jeans).

jacket: Banana Republic / trousers: Salvatore Ferragamo / sunglasses: Salvatore Ferragamo

    Very nice.
If inspiration is needed at some point, try to visit (and look around) in some of the new “fashionable” countries, where the “who-is-who” dresses up to the latest: Jakarta, Indonesia (also a very interesting Jakarta Fashion week every year).
